Our Story
We're often asked, "Why did you name your place Nana's"?
When Marc Dworkin, one of the owners, was a little boy, his grandmother Rose, also known as "Nana", lived with him and his family. His grandmother had a special secret recipe for tuna fish that she made for all the neighbors' parties as well as being sure there was always a bowl of tuna in the Dworkin refrigerator at all times.
In 1976, when Marc opened The Cutting Board in Bayonne, NJ, his first restaurant and delicatessen, Nana agreed to provide him with the secret recipe. As expected the tuna was a hit!
In 1981, when Marc opened his second location in Livingston, N.J., he honored his grandmother by naming the location after her.
